Vancouver Cherry Blossom Engagement and Granville Island

It was a horrible winter, with not much luck for Vancouver cherry blossom engagement shoots this year! After pushing back the engagement for almost a month, we finally picked out a week where the sun was shining! It took a lot of scouting from both parties to look for the perfect cherry blossom tree, but we made it work! A few years ago, Karen and Matt went on a blind date set up by Matt’s uncle. At the time of the first date, it was a bit awkward with Matt’s cousin and uncle in the car. In the end, it all worked out thanks to Uncle Gordon.

We hit up two locations for the engagement shoot. We strolled along Vancouver Westside, to capture rows and rows of cherry blossoms, as most of the cherry blossoms were dead after a week of rain. However, with the last week of cherry blossoms in full swing, we took advantage of the vibrant colours. After grabbing all the shots we needed, we headed over to Granville Island.

Granville Island offers many different varieties of back drops. From urban looks to Pacific Northwest, we did a total of three outfit changes. Their great choice of outfits matched perfectly with the urban backdrops. In addition to their great choice of outfits, these two brought props that Karen bought the day before. My favourite has to be the emoji pillows. Along with their props, Matt brought his favourite hockey teams jersey, the Edmonton Oilers, with Karen wearing the rival jersey. Their fun, and outgoing personality really shines through the photos, which is what I enjoyed the most about these two!  I loved this session, and can’t wait to capture more Vancouver engagement sessions with cherry blossoms next year! Congrats to these two!
