Unitarian Church: Cibele and Kurt

Unitarian Church Wedding: Kurt and Cibele

October 8th, 2016 will always be remembered as a special day for me! Two of my closest college friends tying the knot to their respective significant others. With May eloping to Godfrey at Spanish banks in the morning, Kurt and Cibele was the second wedding of the day! Check out May and Godfrey’s Jericho beach elopement post here!

To fill you in on the story, May and Kurt we’re both in my hospitality degree program about 10 years ago. I was the youngest in the group, just coming straight from high school. Over the course of 4 years, May and Kurt treated me like a younger brother. When they both approached me with their weddings being on the same day, I was worried I couldn’t do both. Luckily for me, May and Godfrey had their wedding in the early morning, with Kurt and Cibele tying the knot in the afternoon. Having two of my closest college friends celebrate their wedding on the same day, was something I would’ve never imagined!

Coming straight out of high school to college can be pretty intimidating. My first impressions, of Kurt, weren’t the greatest, as he was one of those people I would generally shy away from. With his slick back hair and Ed Hardy shirts, he wasn’t hard to notice. Throughout our 4 years in college, Kurt was someone that would constantly be the first to hand in his exams with his nonchalant attitude. Without a doubt, he’d be the first to walk out of the class and always succeed with the highest marks. Throughout the course of the 4 years knowing Kurt, my initial impressions couldn’t have been further from the truth. His smarts, sense of humour and caring attitude towards everyone, is what will make him and Cibele a perfect match!

Kirin Seafood Restaurant Chinese Reception

With Kurt getting ready at the Shearaton Wall Centre, Cibele was up early getting ready with her bridal party at home. She was surrounded by an awesome team hard at work to make sure everyone looked amazing! The ceremony started off with Cibele’s daughter Mikaela, walking down the aisle, followed by Cibele. With no first look, it was Kurt’s first time seeing each other for the first time. After exchanging some emotional vows, we were off to the portrait session at Richmond Olympic Oval for the portrait session! The bridal party embraced the chilly weather and got some fun and amazing pictures.

The rest of the night at Kirin Seafood Restaurant was filled with festivities and the kiss box! The kiss box had couples names in it, and if you were selected randomly, you would have to demonstrate how you wanted Cibele and Kurt to kiss. With two dress changes in between, Cibele looked stunning in her traditional red Chinese dress, and evening gown to finish the night. Throughout the night Kurt showcased his dancing, singing, and his questionable fitness….

After an eventful 16 hour day, I would’ve done it again for these two couples!! Congrats to Cibele and Kurt, and I wish you both nothing but the best! For those looking for suggestions, check out my list of Vancouver Wedding Venues.
