UBC Botanical Garden Wedding: Shannon and Jake

UBC Botanical Garden Wedding

The first wedding of the long weekend, what seemed like the hottest day of the year was finally here. It was only a few short months ago when Shannon, Kurtis ( photographer) and I sat together at Blendz coffee shop discussing the logistics of the wedding day. At that time, I thought to myself I had plenty of time to prepare and as months flew by we were finally here.

The day started early at the Seid residence, where hair and make up took place in Shannon’s room.  With frisbee’s hanging on her wall, to the pictures on her shelves, Shannon’s room was the perfect spot for getting ready, as the room was a small symbol of what the day was going be, celebrating with friends and family. Throughout the planning with Shannon and Jake, the theme was clear. The day was going to be about mingling with friends and celebrating with them on this special day.  Check out their engagement post as well, on how Shannon and Jake met at the Vancouver Ultimate League summer party!

With Shannon getting ready in her room, Jake and the groomsmen were downstairs on Youtube learning how to make a perfect windsor knot. With not much success, Karen, the Maid of Honour, lent them a hand and they made it just out on time. With about half an hour before the bride headed out, I was excited to shoot Shannon’s red dress! Not having shot a non-traditional white dress before, all I can say is that I can’t wait to see more non-traditional dresses. The red dress with a simple hair piece made Shannon look absolutely beautiful! Congrats to Shannon and Jake! Thanks for having me there to be able to capture all the special moments of the day.
