If you believe everything happens for a reason, then how I met Marianna and Jimmy falls under that category. I was in the middle of a Jericho Beach engagement session waiting for my clients to arrive. As I turned around I noticed a surprise proposal. I offered to take a few photos for them since I was there anyway. I sent the photos over and didn’t think I would hear back from them. A couple of months later, I get an email from Marianna and Jimmy about their Hart House wedding. Needless to say, it was the right time and right place that allowed me to meet this fabulous couple.
Marianna and Jimmy’s Vancouver summer wedding wasn’t met without a few speed bumps especially during a pandemic and the smoky/hazy weather. With restrictions finally being eased, these two were one of my largest and longest weddings in 2021. I couldn’t have been happier to finally see friends and family celebrate again. The morning started off at Jimmy’s house. Unfortunately, Jimmy’s dad who passed away was an instrumental part of the family. Jimmy’s watch was from his dad, and he wore it to pay tribute to him. Meanwhile, Marianna and her side were getting ready at her house with Terez who did a stunning job before leaving to their ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish.
The afternoon and evening was spent at Deer Lake Park and Hart House! These two are Burnaby residents so coming to Deer Lake was something that these two often did. Although it was hazy, it made for some beautiful lighting, which is a photographer’s dream. Although speeches are what I look forward to, this evening, it was definitely the dancing! After a dancing hiatus during COVID, it was finally nice being able to see people celebrate! Congrats to these two and for letting me be part of the journey!
