Sitting here enjoying my steak at Bridges restaurant and overlooking the skyline and blue clouds during this mini-break during Amelia and Darcy’s reception, I’m sitting here wondering how I got so lucky to meet such a wonderful couple. I wait to write my blogs 3-4 weeks down the road, yet I felt so motivated to write this on the same day. That’s a testament to what a beautiful couple Amelia and Darcy are. Their Parq wedding photos and first look were by far my favourite. If you’re wondering why you should do a first look, here’s a great read on that here!
Due to Amelia and Darcy living in Seattle, our first interaction was over the phone, before meeting them for the first time at their Lighthouse Park engagement. Listening to their friends take turns with the open mic, the same message throughout the night came across. Genuine, loving, and BIG hearted people always optimistic about life! Now with that said, let’s start with their Parq Vancouver wedding portion of the day.
Arriving just as Amelia finished her makeup, the last minute touchups took place with her mom, sister and daughter, who were all present with a helping hand. The freshness and vibrant colours of the boutonnieres and bouquets caught my eyes right away upon entering the room. The space at Parq Vancouver, offered a luxurious space for getting ready and for the first look. Such amazing lighting, decor and architectural designs.
Speaking with both of them anticipation, excitement and nerves were building, leading up to the first look by the garden terrace outside D6. Overlooking BC place, with a perfect overcast, set the day up to what would be an exciting day ahead. The joy you felt as Darcy saw Amelia for the first time are the exact moments I love capturing. The smiles were priceless!
Meeting for the first time were friends and family from a variety of different countries. Having only dated 7 months before their wedding, it’s was truly a remarkable gathering and celebration. Taking place on the patio of Bridges Restaurant, the intimate ceremony began. Jane from Young Hip and Married always does a tremendous job of officiating weddings and making it personal to each couple! After an exchange of vows, a few tears and waves of laughter were had before saying their ” I do’s”. Truly an intimate ceremony with friends.
Featuring a donut wall, Polaroid cameras, and an emotional first dance/ father-mother dance highlighted the reception. In addition, the speeches from their longtime friends cemented what we already knew about these two. Witnessing and seeing them interact with their family and friends with kindness, gentleness, and above all their laughter throughout the whole day is what I admire to be. As the kids say these days “#couplegoals”. Thank you for having me at your wedding! I can’t express how thankful I am to have to be a part of this journey. I’m sure our paths will cross again, and wishing you and your family all the best!!! Happy July 4th! For those looking interested in my Vancouver wedding photos, I would love to be considered your upcoming wedding!
