Siobhan and Riley’s wedding at the Fairmont Empress Hotel this past Saturday was something truly special. Not just because of how beautiful everything looked (spoiler: it absolutely was), but also because I’ve had the privilege of knowing Siobhan for a few years. Being asked to photograph a friend’s wedding is always an honour—and admittedly, it does come with a bit of added pressure. But every moment was more than worth it.
The ceremony was held in the Library Room, a space inspired by early 1900s design. Rich wood tones, vintage details, and moody elegance filled the space, creating the feeling of a storybook setting. A warm, intimate atmosphere was created as close friends and family gathered to witness a love that had grown so deeply over just 420 days. Emotion filled the room as vows were exchanged—honest, raw, and beautifully written. It was impossible not to get swept up in it. For those in attendance, there were few dry eyes.
A blend of editorial style and my usual approach was requested by Siobhan and Riley—something a little outside my typical comfort zone, but a creative challenge I welcomed and truly enjoyed. After the ceremony, portraits were taken throughout the hotel as we wandered through every charming corner—the iconic windows, the long hallways, the quiet elegance of the Empress. Their vision came to life in the most effortless way, with the venue serving as the perfect backdrop for a day so full of heart.
