Alouette Lake Wedding: Heather and Ryan
I last saw Heather and Ryan in March just before the lockdown! Their engagement session was supposed to take place at Alouette Lake. However, due to high winds that day we moved our session to Pitt Lake. Little did we know we would back at Alouette Lake for their wedding as well!
What was supposed to be a wedding filled with many friends and family ended up being an intimate ceremony with a select few friends and family. Ryan and Heather like many couples faced the harsh reality of 2020 and had to narrow their guest list down. After a few changes in date, these two finally had an intimate backyard wedding, followed by stunning Alouette Lake wedding portraits.
Just before the ceremony, friends gave a helping hand with small details and getting the stream ready for friends to tune in. With everyone ready, it was an emotional start. Ryan was tearing up seeing Heather walked down the aisle before sharing emotional wedding vows led by Kristen at Vancouver Officiants. Simply perfect and emotional for those attending in person and on Zoom. As the ceremony concluded, a surprise was waiting for them.
These two got a surprise after the ceremony with family members socially distancing in their cars, forming a parade line handing them gifts and words of encouragement as they start this new journey together. I find these little gestures so special, especially during these times with restrictions.
Shortly after these two carried on the tradition of a first dance in the backyard of their friend’s house. It’s so nice to see couples carry on small traditions. After a quick snack, we made our way to Golden Ears Provincial Park for their portrait session.

It was a perfect way to end a special day for these two with a gorgeous sunset and west coast feel with the mountains and lake. Thank you two for introducing me to this new spot! Perfect lighting, couple, and backdrop made for a memorable 2020 wedding.
