Sea to Sky Gondola Proposal: Loretta and Robin

This was a special moment for me as a Sea to Sky Gondola proposal photographer. I hate to say this, but yes, I’m getting older. In this past year, I’ve had the chance to see many friends propose to their significant others. It never gets old. The overwhelming sensation of joy, stress, nervousness, all within a split second. As I’ve gotten older, the value of friendship becomes so much more important.

To be able to reflect back over almost a decade, to see where it all began, makes moments like these all the more exciting. Robin and I met at camp, going back to almost 2002? My memory is a bit foggy… but I’ve been told it happens with old age. As for Loretta, she sort of just showed up in life. According to Facebook, our earliest memory began in 2007. So let’s just go with that. Years later here we are.

Messaging me 4 days before the proposal, Robin asked, ” how much do you charge for proposal photos, asking for a friend?. Instant jaw drops emoji. For those who have followed my blog, Sea to Gondola proposals never gets old for me. I’ve been here half a dozen times this past year, but this Saturday morning brought a different element. Just reopening for the holidays, the trails slightly dusted with snow, frigid air and snowcapped mountains, made this moment just a bit more romantic.

Winter Squamish Proposal

Making their way to the lookout platform, it was unfortunately filled with tourists taking in the panoramic view. Stalling for as long as possible, we made the decision to move over to another area a short walk away. Over in a quieter area, Robin had prerecorded a message for Loretta. As she finished listening to the pre-recording, Loretta shed a tear. Knowing Loretta, for as long as I’ve known her, that’s a sign for she was REALLY happy. Finishing up our time, we roamed around the area to take advantage of the gorgeous views! With 2020, fast approaching, I’m excited to see what the next few months have in-store for you both.
